Hello all!

I'm trying to write some advanced piano literature, and I have come to a point where I would like to cross staff beam grace notes. But I have not found much in the way of how to do that? I'm sure that it's possible, but I just have no idea how.

And in that vain, is it possible to have grace notes playback ON the beat, rather than before it? Usually, if I have a series grace notes at the beginning of a measure, they will start playing towards the end of the previous measure, as they playing before the beat, and sometimes overlapping with notes in the previous measure. I need them to be on the beat.

Thanks for any help on either issue!

I have Finale 2014.5 on Windows 10~

For cross staff beaming of any sort (grace note or regular notes), simply use the note mover tool, and make sure that up in the menu "Note Mover > Cross Staff" is checked on. Then click and drag your notes from one staff to the other. To make the beams the way you like, you can use the special tool "Reverse Stem Tool" and "Beam Angle Tool" to adjust your beams.

As far as playback, that is where I tend to bow out because I rarely ever use Finale to "hear" a piece, so hopefully somebody else can chime in because my fix would be clunky...

Hey thanks for the notation tip!

Yeah, I often make two versions of scores: one for playback and another that looks right for performance. Sometimes they line up, but not all the time. But the grace notes playback since I first started using Finale 2010 many moons ago. But I'm sure that someone has an idea.

Thanks again!
