iMac 27" late 2012, 3.4Ghz Intel Core i7, 32GB DDR3, running OS X 10.11.6 and Finale 25

I have a bunch of docs I created using the demo of 2014.5.  I purchased Finale 25 and am trying to get the 2014.5 demo docs to play using Garritan Audio Units.  They play fine using MIDI, but when Garritan audio units are used no sound comes out.  I got some help from Chris at Finale Tech support, and the only thing he could find that worked was  to export the docs as xml and reimport them.  We tried restarting Finale, reassign playback sounds, and we selected all measures and did clear selected items and deleted the Midi Data, none of which worked.  If I create new documents using either the default doc or the wizard, playback with Garritan works fine.

So I used the new feature called "Translate Folder to Music XML", and it generated Music XML files for each of the 2014.5 documents.  Unfortunately that just produced more problems.  All of the imported XML docs lost their parts, so the parts had to be regenerated.  And all of the work to format slurs, pages, measures, etc. is lost if I go this route.

So I am still looking for a way to solve the original problem of getting the Garritan audio units working, this time with not so big a hammer.  Any ideas?

I found a solution:  I reopened each Finale file in 2014.5 and changed the MIDI/Audio setup to play audio units, selected aria player without any instrument in score manager for each part and saved the file.  Then reopened in 25, and this time I could get Garritan playback to work after toggling back and forth between MIDI and Audio Units.  Whew!

So, the 2014.5 demo was able to save the file with all of the data? Since the demos don't include the Garritan libraries, I wondered

Glad you found a solution. Makes sense, too.
