Intermittently, when opening an existing file, I will get a message, "Finale has encountered a problem and must close." This always happens just before the samples (Garritan) have loaded. When I restart I get asked if I would like to restore my previous session. This has been occurring all through the 2014 series. I'd guesstimate it happens about every 3rd to 5th time I open a file.

Thank you,

Ron

Am I to assume that questions like these, which I posted on the regular forum and got no helpful responses, and for which I opened problem tickets and received no solutions, are not appropriate here either?

Maybe I should open a feature request and ask that Finale not close unexpectedly when opening existing files?

Hi Ron,

I'm sorry no one has responded to this thread until now. While we agents are interested in being active in this community and are currently discussing ideas for how best to do that going forward, we also want it to remain a user-driven resource so our primary focus as a team can remain on the private support ticket system.

Regarding your specific issue, if Finale 2014.5 is using the default temp files location, a good place to start is closing all programs, clearing the contents of your temp folder (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp), and restarting your computer. I've seen that help in some cases where Finale repeatedly asks to restore files. I hope this helps!
