In that case, I do not believe that you can control how Print Music interprets the length of the fermata.

About the only suggestion that I can make, is to add a hidden tempo mark on that note. Slow the tempo right down (say around 75% - 50% of the current tempo) then add another hidden tempo marking on the note directly following bringing the tempo back to what it was before the fermata.
