Trying to make pedal markings that affect play back.

The finale support site gives tan answer which includes the following:

"Note: Human Playback must be enabled to use this feature."

But doesn't say how to enable human playback. How do I know if it is enabled or not?

It's not working for me, so I need to figure this out,

Hi

What version of Finale are you using?

In current versions, Human playback is enabled/set in the MIDI/Audio menu.

In older versions, click on the speaker icon to bring up the playback settings. HP style is enabled/set there.

In all versions of Finale, open the help manual and search for "Human Playback". That will lead you to pages which will show you how to enable HP, and how to best use HP.

Using the current version Finale 25

Don't see anything about ENABLING Human Playback in the MIDI/Audio Menu. Or in the Human Playback preferences.

I did a search in the Help  Menu, but don't see any reference to ENABLING Human Playback there either.

Maybe I am just missing it?

Hi Mitchell

In the MIDI/Audio menu under Human playback, if anything other than "None" is selected, then HP is enabled.

Thanks, Daz

I suspected that, but since I was still having trouble, I was hoping there was something else.

This is pretty counterintuitive: select "None" to enable--hahaha!

A lot of time would have been saved with clearer instructions from Make Music in the first place. Se la vie:)

Hi Mitchell

You may have misunderstood my post.

If None is selected, then HP is disabled.

If anything else is selected, then HP is enabled.

As to working Pedal marks, look at smart shapes. Specifically, the custom line tool.

If you're on windows, hold <ctrl> and click on the custom line tool. This will bring up the smart line selection dialogue. You can then scroll down the list to the pedal mark. It's the 5th on the list, just under the Glissando.

You can attach those marks the same way as hairpins.

Cheers...
