I was under the impression that Finale v. 25 was going to support SMuFL compliant fonts.  I am finding that it does not.  Is there any word as to what version is going to support this standard in Music Fonts?

Hi Robby:

2014.5 and v25 do support the new SMuFL fonts. We do have work to do on the interface within Finale to make the selection of symbols easier as well conversion of fonts from older formats to SMuFL seamless. If you have a specific issue or question about what you're running up again, please open a ticket with Customer Success: https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Finale does support SMuFL fonts, but perhaps you would like the Maestro font itself to be SMuFL compliant? That was also promised some time ago, but I don't think that it will ever happen. It would allow engravers switching from Finale to Dorico to use the Maestro font within Dorico, something not to the advantage of MakeMusic.

I've recently asked MM about the progress of SMuFL compatibility in Finale, including a SMuFL version of Maestro, and apparently they "still plan to implement these features", but they're less willing to put a release date on it than they were 5 years ago.

Currently, you can access all the glyphs in a SMuFL font for use in Finale wherever you can define a font character, but there are two problems stopping you using a SMuFL font entirely: Time sig numbers cannot be redefined to the SMuFL glyphs; and the whole rest sits on the wrong staff line if defined with the SMuFL glyph.

Fonts like November2 get round these problems by having "Finale-position" glyphs in the original 8-bit character slots as well as the SMuFL set.
