Look at Document->Document Options->Music Spacing

You can aslo use the measure tool to control note/beat spacing on a per-measure basis

You can also use the note position tool to adjust the indiviual notes (Tools->Advanced tools->Special tools->Note position)

I'd suggest reading the manual for all those options.
