Hello,

I'm currently using Finale 2014.5 and I have a question regarding the instruments' ambitus within Finale. Is there any way to access information on the ambitus used for the instruments, or at least find a list of all the instruments and their ambitus as used within Finale? The reason I ask this is because I write music for non-Western instruments with alternative tunings that I've devised. I use MacOSX 10.11.6 (El Capitan)

Thanks very much,

Hasan

I think this may help you get started in the right direction as it sounds like you want to to
1) create your own ambitus from Finale instruments (all of which are based on chromatic half steps)
https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Finale2014Mac/Content/Finale/Key_signatures.htm? (scroll down to nonstandard key signatures)
and
2) create some non-standard tuning playback (such as quarter tones)
https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Finale2014Mac/Content/Finale/Quarter_tones.htm

HOWEVER, Finale works best with Western music, so going through these items can be very very very difficult. That's not to discourage your use of Finale for non-western music and tuning systems, it just shows where Finale's strength is.

Hope this helps you get started!

Have you had a look at the SCALA options available through the Aria Player?
