Hi Everybody, I have a very frustrating issue and cant seem to find resolution. Hoping someone has an answer.

I just got IO downloaded, installed and registered and everything appears to work as normal at first on Sonar X1. I can load and play all instruments through the Aria plugin virtual plugin in the DAW without an issue. No audio dropouts or blips or other issues. All versions are the latest available.

The first time i playback input entered into the piano roll the sound plays back. The second time there is no sound or visual input through the master. The virtual piano doesn't work either. The only way to resolve is to to empty and re-load the patch and again it only works for one playback. I have tried changing just about every driver setting I can think off.

Weirdly, this issue seems to effect every bank except the  Blended textures set, which I can load and play back multiple instances of without any problem!

Is there a different process to follow for other banks, or do you maybe need to use different channels? Has my library maybe installed incorrectly?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Greg:

Unfortunately, the mod wheel that controls volume must be raised by a MIDI controller, mod wheel on a keyboard.

If you raise the mod by mouse, it doesn't register. The same thing happens if to try to record anything with the mouse on the keyboard.

The mouse is for auditioning only, it does not record.

I learned this after much wasted time.

Hi Jack, many thanks for the response! You were spot on. It is dropping the wheel after each play. The question is how to keep it there if you dont have a mod wheel on midi controller?

I have been having this issue in Sonar Platinum also. So if I understand correctly, I need to raise/set the control for volume after each playback if I'm using a midi file? Forgive me if the question seems dumb but I'm new to using midi command info. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might try using the GM (Velocity  based dynamic) mode instead of the GPO (CC1 or CC11 Expression Volume) mode.  In the control tab for each IO instrument, near the bottom left, is button that can toggle between the two modes.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to at least put a CC1 event at the beginning of the track to set the volume.

Not sure about Sonic, but in Cubase I use the GPO mode and run a simple Logic Editor script that inserts a CC1 event before every note that is equal to the MIDI Note itself.  That makes the volume rise and lower a bit with the notes...a fairly realistic result that can be spot tweaked manually in a controller lane as needed.

Perhaps Sonic has a way to do these sorts of quick and easy 'mass edits' as well?

I placed the the midi modulation event in the automation and that seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the reply and help.

I have solved the problem of the mod wheel dropping, by starting all my sequences at Bar 2. Bar 1  is reserved for a single measure of raising the mod wheel midi event. I do this and save it as a template with 16 tracks containing nothing but mod wheel raises on each track. This works fine in Sonar X2 probably will work on other DAWs also. Try it.

Thanks Jack, template with mod wheel event sounds like a great idea, I think I'll set one up now that I know it works. Thank you.
