Hi Greig

When you say you upgraded to the latest Finale 2014.5 version, do you perhaps mean Finale25? (ie have you recently purchased the upgrade)

If so, the most probable reason is that you've pointed Finale to the directory that has the 32bit version of Kontakt 5 player.

You need to tell finale where the 64bit Kontakt5 player is located.

Typically, it will be installed in either "C:\Program Files\vstplugins\Kontakt"

or

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2\Kontakt"

To point Finale to the player, go to MIDI/Audio->Device Setup->Manage VST Plugin Directories

I'm working on the assumption that you're running Windws. Could you please verify (and also include that information in future posts. It does make a difference to the answer)

Cheers...

Daz :o)

Hi Darrin,

I've just installed Kontakt 5.6.5 on Mac OSX 10.11 and have Finale 2014.5. Finale is now saying

Could we have instructions for the fix on OSX as well? This would be a good thread for it.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for posting.

I'm afraid there is not a true equivalent to the MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Manage VST Plug-in Directories that is available on Windows on Finale for Mac. However, you should just be able to choose MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Rescan for AU Plug-ins to tell Finale to rescan your /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components folder for Audio Units plug-ins.

You may have to restart Finale after doing so for any changes to take effect.

Let us know how this goes!

Hi Lawson, thank you. I tried the Rescan, and Kontakt 5 didn't show up (earlier versions of Kontakt do show up). I restarted Finale, and received the same dialogue about the Missing Audio Unit Plugin.

Here is my system library /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components

Any other ideas?

Hi Michael,

Does this also happen in newly created files specifically using the Setup Wizard (File > New > Document With Setup Wizard), or only in older files that you open?

If I'm understanding you correctly, the Kontakt 5 plug-in is not showing up as an option either way?

Hi Lawson,

Yes Kontakt5 is not appearing in a new file either:

Most of the Google searches for this problem are referring to Kontakt 5.6 on Mac/OSX only working on 64 bit hosts... but Finale 2014.5 is a 64b host, correct ?

Finale v25 is 64-bit. Finale 2014.5 is not.

Good catch!

That is absolutely correct. Finale 2014.5 is a 32-bit application. You would need a 32-bit version of the Kontakt plug-in component for it to work with Finale 2014.5.

I am not 100% sure whether or not Native Instruments provides a 32-bit version of the component. You may wish to contact them to find out what options you have for 32-bit versions of Kontakt.

You can also try the free trial of the latest version of Finale which is a 64-bit application.

Hope this helps!

Glad it is working for you. You may want to go back to your original message and change the heading to

[SOLVED] - Finale 2014.5 Update - Kontakt 5.5.2

so folks will know, including those who may be looking for the same solution themselves.
