I have Finale v. 27.4 for PC.  I use alpha notes to create songs for my beginner students.  Is there a way to keep the note after a tie from being filled in with the letter other than going back and clearing the alpha notes staff style for each individual note?

Welcome to the forum!

Rather than clearing the Alpha Notes style for “each individual note” it might be faster to “mask” the notehead via the Articulation Tool or the Expression Tool.

If you need info about, how to do so, let us know.

The better we understand, the better we can help.

I believe I understand how to mask the notehead, but wouldn't I still have to do that for each individual note? Thanks!

Yes, but it might be a little faster - once the “mask” is created.

Lisa,

I have done this with the little kiddies but I leave any tied notes with their note name on them. Why not? It makes it clear to them that a tie and a slur is not the same thing. Something Finale and MM don't seem to know!

Appreciate the suggestion, Ernest, I often leave them, but I have a few students who need extra hint to not play the notes after the ties. :-)
