My old Yamaha P-60 had traditional MIDI in and out cables which connected to my Roland Quad Capture. That worked fine with Hyperscribe. My new Roland FP-30X has a USB A to B printer cable. I got Hyperscribe to "hear" notes on the keyboard by going to MIDI Audio / Device Setup / MIDI setup, unchecking "auto detect MIDI device," and selecting Roland. However, the metronome does not sound regardless of whether it's set to MIDI note, MIDI data, or Finale click.
I followed these instructions without success:
- Choose MIDI/Audio menu > VST Banks & Effects. TheVST Banks & Effects dialog box appears.
- Choose Bank 1-16 > Instruments for Finale (if it’s not chosen already). Then click the Edit button to the right. The ARIA Player for Finale appears.
- For channel 10, load the Basic Orch Percussion sound. If all eight slots are full, replace one of the instruments with the Basic Orch Percussion sound and reassign the replaced instrument on a different set of channels.
- Close the player and click Close to dismiss the dialog box. Setting the channel to 10 ensures the metronome click will play normally if MIDI is set as the playback device.
- Choose MIDI/Audio > Click and Countoff. The Click and Countoff dialog box appears.
- Change the Note fields for both Down Beats and Other Beats to 56. This will produce a side drum hit when using the ARIA Player for Finale and a cowbell when using MIDI.
