It would be nice if we could access e.g. Simple Entry Tool using a shortcut (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+S).

That link is for Mac users.  I am on Win 10 with Finale 2014.  I'm trying to get the Master Tools palette to show so I can assign a shortcut to select the Simply entry tool.  How do I get in Win  Ive tried the Shift-Function key route as well with no success.  .

I don't see it either (on Windows). If it is present, it must be called something else.

(I suspect this pallet takes advantage of an Apple OS function not available to Windows users.)

I just verified in Win10 on a Surface with Finale 25.5

I selected the Staff tool.

Press Shift + F2 to program the F2 key to Staff Tool

I then selected the Articulation Tool

Press Shift + F3 to program the F3 key to Articulation Tool

Now, press F2 to select the Staff Tool and then press F3 to select Articulation tool

Repeat for F4 through F12. F1 is reserved for Help.

Your mileage may vary depending on your QWERTY keyboard and how the Function row is programmed.

Cheers,

Michael

I'm on a Mac with 25.5 and although I admit to being not the most intelligent person on this planet, I think the way of assigning keyboard shortcuts (in this case, I'd like a press of one key such as F15 for Simple Entry) seems tremendously unintuitive and unnecessarily complicated.

Or am I missing something (apart from brain cells)?

The easiest way (in my opinion) is to set up keyboard shortcuts with the Mac System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts. I've been using this method for at least 3 versions of Finale.

That sounds like a good idea Mike.

If only I could get it to work…can you give me an example of one that you successfully use, please?
