I have been watching a few YouTube's from LA Big Band Arranger, Elliot Deutsch. Elliot has some self-help arranging videos. I was watching his block chord ensemble voicings suggestions. Unfortunately, Eliot is a Sebelius user and used it for the demo he has on display. We are talking about straight close block chord voice structures in 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, and 4 trombones (13 horns.) Now, I was wondering if Finale 27 can be set up to enter notes in a vertical manner, like Sebelius does so easily.
As an example, Eliot takes one, chord tone in the first trumpet part, and moves down to the next chord tone, below, for the 2nd trumpet part, and so on, until is down to the 4th (bass trombone) note. He is entering notes, vertically, by just dragging a note head to the pitch he wants on the next line, below. He doesn't have to do with all the rests which pop up in each measure, as happens in Finale.
I only know how to, in Speedy, enter notes....................in a horizontal manner. I am sure Finale 27 can do this in Speeding Entry, with mouse and computer keyboard.
