I removed two locks which appeared in finale after importing a print music doc. Everything tightened up vertically. Text and dynamic markings flew everywhere. The text was fingerings for violin. Like a puzzle to reorganize. Expanded the staves flowing into page two. Could not drag markings to the next page. Text and markings seem no t to travel with formatting changes. Once the staff is locked to prevent flow it seems unlocking causes a nighmare. The doc was perfect.

If fingerings were put into the original document as Text rather than expressions (which might have been necessary in PrintMusic), then they may very well have been attached to locations on the page rather than notes one your staves, which would explain the "explosion."

Can you re-import the doc and not remove the locks?

I am not aware of "expressions," but I am now, thanks.  That is what happened.  I put in words like Andante con moto and the violin fingering with the text tool.  For some reason the first two staves were locked and when I unlocked them the system distance decreased markedly and the text jumped all over.   Since Mr. Verkouteren, I discoved page reduction which allowed the staves to remain on one page.  Seemed the best fix, keeping the margins at 1/2 inch.  Everything from now on will be produced on Finale 25.1 so I've got to bone up on tempo, dynamics, fingerings... relating them to location rather than page position.  thanks for the direction and tips.

Paul,

How did you remove the locks?  I can not figure how to remove them from an Allegro generated file.

using the suggestions made by Mr. Verkouteren as I related in my previous post.

Evans,

If you are talking about unlocking system length, in recent full Finale you would select a measure in the system(s) you want to unlock and then use Utilities > Unlock Systems (or the shortcut indicated in the menu).
