I write orchestra music and find that working with defined staff sets crucial for workflow!  However, I often forget what staff set is what group of instruments.  It would be great to be able to custom name staff sets at definition so I can remember what I assigned.  For instance, Staff Set 1 = "Strings"  Staff Set 2 = "Woodwinds" Staff Set 3 = "Brass" etc.  Sometimes I have Voices, some times I don't.

These would be different for each document, so I assume either at the point of definition or in the Document settings they would be defined.

I searched and did not find this already requested.  Hope it isn't a repeat, but it sure seems obvious.  Maybe it has been explained before.

Hi Roger. Great suggestion, duly noted. Staff sets are very powerful and long overdue for an interface update. Yes, I agree these would document specific. I would expect some interface like how you define the name of a set of staves in the Staff Lists dialog box in the repeat tool or the Assign to Staves in the Expression tool.

The last Final it was in 2012.  I lost the one I bought  before that.  The 2012 one would not let me use the import section. That is why I have not bought anything else.  If you have another version of the first one I bought let me know.

Thank You,

"The last Final it was in 2012."

What do you mean by "it"?

I'm having trouble with instrument naming.  Using Finale v. 25 on MacBook Pro.

I have 2 Horn staves I want to name Horn 1 & 2 and another to name Horn 3. However when I try to name it that way the system want to add an extra 1 to the right on the Horn 1 & 2 stave and an extra 2 on the Horn 3 stave.

The same thing occurs when I have a Trpt.  1 stave and a Trpt.  2 & 3 stave, there's an extra 2. When naming the staves in attributes, it shows the name I want but on the actual score it has the extra #.

Also  for the two violin staves It lists the Vln 1 and 2 with Roman #s, I & II and wont let me change them to regular #s
