For many years, Finale served me well.  I started with a free version of PrintMusic and as it became apparent to me that this was something more useful to me than most other software, I made a conscious decision to pay my way and upgrade from time to time.  I always enjoyed using the Finale software.  For most purposes I have moved on to other software but I will keep the software on my computer as long as it runs and use it from time to time in fond memory of a time when it was the leading choice of software.  I think you can all be proud of the work you contributed to this project and I am very grateful for everyone that worked on its development.

What a blow it was to read the email this morning that Finale will be discontinued. I read with interest that Finale has been around for 35 years. I wasn't sure when it was first released. I know I bought my first copy in 1990, 34 years ago! It has been a great journey together. I intend to keep my current computer going for as long as possible. After investing 34 years in Finale I am not ready to change. I will start learning Dorico, while continuing to do advanced and challenging projects in Finale as long as it continues to work. Getting that email notice today was like losing a member of a family. Our careers have been tied together for 34 years.

That seems a wise course: it is how I moved to Dorico and became comfortable with it starting in 2016. Transferring older files over via XML (starting with smaller files) was a great way to learn Dorico as the program's capabilities grew int he early years. Like learning Finale 35 years ago, learning Dorico is a process, and not expecting it to mimic Finale's interface is a wise attitude with which to discover the richness of the Dorico environment.
