I'm sure lots of folks don't want to learn new software and would be willing to keep the existing Finale for $5/month, say. That would give you enough funds to keep it alive!
Peaksware LLC is the $45B holding company that owns MakeMusic, Alfred Publishing and other companies. SmartScore is now called MakeMusic for Cloud and that is where the company has decided to focus their resources. Finale is just a decimal point on the balance sheet.
A number of desktop notation apps have gone away. A few makers promised upgrades in 2021 that never happened. At least MM told us and gave a timetable instead of just pulling the plug like so many others have.
