Can you provide exact steps to reproduce the problem?

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce the problem.

For me, the beam stays when I hide a rest:

Check the pages that I gave in your other post. Finale has so many options and you gave us very little information. Hopefully, you'll either see the answer or you'll be able to give us a better idea of the problem.

Thanks for the info.

Your attached graphic explains the problem well.

The layout is sometimes called Alternating Stems, or Bariolage.

In this particular case I would try another way:

a) Document Options > Beams: “Extend Beams Over Rests” & “Extend Secondary Beams Over Rests”.

b) In Layer 1, break the beam before the last rest in the beam group.

c) In Layer 2, break the beam before the first note in the group.

d) Do not hide the rests.

Instead, use the plug-in Move Rests to move the rests down below the bottom of the page.

In that way the rests will not print, even if they are not hidden, technically speaking.

Lasha Maisaia,

You helps others is if you edit your original post (which none of us here can do), and add the word, SOLVED, to the title.
