Whenever I need several noteheads to be changed with "change notehead" tool, I have two options:
a) select few of them, hit enter and scroll through the list to find the desired one. It works only for symbol change – can't change font this way.
b) right-click and instead of scrolling away, and just type the desired symbol, if I know it. I can also resize and change fonts now.

The second option is better, but it doesn't work for the whole selection. It works only for the right-clicked note.

Is it possible to:
1. Open the Notehead Settings without ignoring the selection?
2. Make the selection NOT disappear after moving the window?

… "change notehead" tool …

I suppose that you mean the Special Tools Tool sub-tool Note Shape Tool, right?

However, there are some other options:

1) You can change the notehead font for a selected region, via a custom staff style.

2) You can change noteheads via the utility:

Utilities menu > Change > Noteheads…

I know those inventions. They however fail, as I have a lot of chords and double stops and I need some notes to be left with original heads.

And yes, I mean special tools > note shape.

Also, you can do one measure, and then use the Copy Filter to copy your notehead alterations to other measures.

Assuming that you need the same notehead changes in all the measures.

There is no pattern unfortunately.

No pattern? Mixed noteheads in chords and double stops? Until Finale releases the mind-reader plugin, I think you have to do it one step at a time.

Sorry, Oskar, but I don’t see any alternative.

That's why I'm posting it in future requests.

And no need to be rude or ironic with that mind-reader. Just look at this IRL simulation:

The whole issue is that Finale doesn't let you select that way. Feature request.

You might look at JW Change. That has a section for Custom Noteheads, with many filters for selection. Maybe you can use that for some reduction of your labor.
