macOS 10.12 Sierra, Finale 25 latest version, MacPro

Finale 25 now opens files in tabbed windows, which is fine.  The issue I'm having is when opening multiple files, which I do frequently to print pieces for students.

When I open a 2nd or 3rd file to print, Finale doesn't show the file I just opened?  Instead, it opens into a new tab but the focus is still on a previously opened file; the newly opened file opens in a background tab.  Why??  This is completely counterintuitive.  And Finale is the only application that does this.  Does anyone else experience this on a Mac, or Windows for that matter?  When I am in a rush I frequently just hit Cmd-P to print, only to find I printed a file I already printed.

This behaviour doesn't necessarily have to do with tabbed windows. When opening documents in regular windows I regularly experience that Finale doesn't shift focus to this window, although I can't determine when this happens. When opening a document, I often begin an action immediately, like scrolling or opening a tool for editing but since the window isn't foremost, I get a series of system warning sounds until I select the document window manually. Not a big deal but annoying. When having two files open, this Finale bug can create serious problems. I've often had a file open and needed to check something in another file, which I open in front of the file I was working on. If I haven't noticed that this new file's window isn't in focus, when I try to close it, the action actually closes the first file I was working on. If I hadn't saved that first file before opening the second, my work is lost. I've had this happen to me several times and it's most exasperating.
