I use FinaleScripts every day; I have about 25 scripts that are a great help in my workflow.  Sometimes navigation and certain commands within FS causes troubles, and it has come to my mind that the Finale UI rather than FS causes most of the troubles.

Because:  Take this simple command [menu item "Time Signature"]  The term "Time Signature" is to be found several places in Finale, and with different functions.  Thus, a script with that command will not work properly.  There are a number of terms with more than one appearance and functionality and all these makes FinaleScripts far more difficult to make and use.  For most occasions, there are workarounds (tab, arrow, press spacebar etc), but for some there are not.  External macro programs is a help, but also have their shortcomings (how to uncheck checkboxes etc)

So my feature request is to have this in mind for the general UI overhaul that I guess is being done these days.  Oh, I almost forgot: And a brand new UI for the MIDI tool would be great, too!

If I Recall Correctly, there are quite a few FinaleScript features that are poorly documented.

I could be wrong here (I am not a FinaleScript expert), but I seem to recall that you in FinaleScript can specify the location of the term "Time Signature", by using the word "near".

Have you tried that?

Or does "near" only work under certain conditions, e. g. only in dialog boxes?

The term «Time Signature» is found in the Tools dropdown menu and in the right-click popup-window in the Selection tool. The command «time signature tool» will sometimes work, other times not. Also, selecting «score/parts» is found in page layout tool, music spacing and others, you have to use tabs and arrows to work around them. «Near» command is somewhat unstable and used for checkboxes only. Maybe it can work in a wider area - I’ll check it out!
