Can anyone tell me how to input a E(sus4) e.g. E suspended 4.
I can't find out how!
Please Hel.
Thanks Leo from DK
… Peter, does sus always mean the 4th? Are there other suspensions when you would need the modifying number? …
In my experience, sus is used for suspended 4th only.
In other cases of suspension (like suspended 7ths or 9ths) you would specify the chord symbol without using the term sus, like e. g. Dm7 or Dm(add9).
This has been a topic on the Dorico Forum centering around chords such as C2, which the program wants to express as Csus2, to the great consternation of some participants.
Generally a C9 would imply a C7 with an added ninth, but C2 might imply (some say) that the 9th is suspending into the third rather than occurring simultaneously with the third.
Since there are several systems of chord notation--nothing has been fully standardized--it is a problematic situation.
