I am trying to get my fall-off's to playback; however, on the playback I hear the note, but, there is no fall-off played.

I have opened the definitions box; however, I am not sure of what I need to change to make Finale start playing the fall-off's.

Thanks for any information and assistance.

What Human Playback (HP) setting are you using? Are you using the Jazz articulations to notate your fall offs?

I am working in Broadway Font. Could this be my problem?

I am using the jazz setting in HP, also.

I did not find the jazz articulations in the set accompanying Broadway Copyist, so I loaded the Jazz Articulations Library (File Menu) and looked for those articulations below the pre-existing articulations in the selection panel.

Not all provided playback (or produced very subtle results with the Jazz HP you said you were using). I found one that did give a noticeable falloff and hoep that will help you.

I was able to get the Jazz Articulations loaded and applied to one measure which has an accented eighth note with the new fall off utilized. It still does not want to playback any fall off. It just plays the accent, with no fall-off. I scrolled down through the Articulation Selection until I arrived at the jazz font articulation library and applied the one you suggested.

What am I doing incorrectly? I really appreciate your time helping me solve this issue.

What instruments are you using for playback? Meaning, general midi, GPO, JABB or Sam Brass?

I am using GPO for my playback, if that helps.

As far as I know, only JABB has recorded fall-offs. GPO doesn't.

I just took a two bar sample from the chart, copied it into a blank template, and, I can hear a fall-off being played back, even though it is not a large fall-off, it does playback a fall-off. I am using a fall-off character I created from the Broadway Font character map. I went back to my original chart, and, it just pops out a short, accented, note in Garritan Playback. I checked the character, using the Edit Articulations Definition and it shows the character producing the short fall-off came from the character I produced from the Broadway Font Character Map.

Really puzzled, now!

If in your original chart it only plays a short, accented note, then check your playback setting, (i.e., the specific patch which is loaded). If you make your original chart match your 2 bar sample, it should work.

Looks like my two measure example is using Smart Music Soft Synth. settings. I am using KS trumpets & trombones in my original score.

BTW, thanks for your help, also!

Did you enter the score yourself or import XML or MIDI? You might try Clear Selected to clear any pre-existing MIDI data just in case.

You may also want to see if removing the accent (temporarily) from your fall-off note to see if the combination is causing the problem. (It shouldn't, but it would be good to know.)

Adrian, I cleared both the MINI data and took off the accents, which still didn't change anything. I submitted my score to Make Music, this afternoon. We will see what they find which is causing this problem.

Thanks so much for your time and suggestions.

Just thought I would stop back and give you the answers to what I learned from Make Music Tech (Keven S.)

1. The fall-offs didn't like the accented eighth notes. Tech switched to accented quarter notes, to get more length and a good fall-off started to appear on playback. The tempo didn't help, either; as, it is up around 130., which made for pretty short eighth notes, in playback.

2. Seemed like the Jazz Font fall-offs might have helped, also.

3. Midi/Audio Reassign Playback was also suggested.

I want to thank Adrian and Jeffrey for all of your great suggestions and help with this "issues."
