OS is Windows 7; Finale 25
I'm using the Expression Designer to create (per the Shape Designer dialog page instructions) some very specific graphics from .tif files to put into music created with the Boomwhacker template. Once I've entered the music and placed the created graphics, I can export as a pdf and everything exports correctly (except the Boomwhacker colored noteheads, but that's a problem for another day).
As long as I don't close Finale, I'm able to use those created graphics in new documents, but once I close the program, the next time I open the template or one of the previous documents, the graphics I created are gone. It only displays a box with the name I gave the graphic inside the box (Example: C chord.tif). When I go to the Expression tool to insert an expression into the music, all of the ones I created have changed to a 'name of graphic'.tif box.
I have tried saving the file not just as a music file, but also as a template and I've saved the library; however, my created graphics still disappear and I have to re-create them every time I want to start a new document and also if I need to make any changes to an existing document.
Once, after I had begun to re-create the graphics, I placed the 'new' graphic in the document, selected the .tif graphic and deleted it. I'm positive I had selected the .tif graphic, but the 'new' graphic is the one that was deleted. I immediately hit undo and not only did the 'new' graphic I had just re-created reappear, but all the other ones that had been showing .tif boxes, corrected themselves.
I don't understand why my graphics aren't saving correctly when I exit Finale. I followed all the steps in the online manual to create the graphics and I followed all the steps to save as a template and to save the library, but apparently, I'm not doing something correctly. I wish I could take a screenshot to help explain what I'm talking about, but I can't seem to do that.
All I'm trying to do is create my own specialized template (with all my document options saved) and a library of these specific graphics, so that I can simply open that template and start writing music. It is very time-consuming and frustrating to have to start from scratch every time I work on this. As this is an ongoing project, with multiple pieces of music, any assistance you can provide will be most appreciated. Thank you. Laurie
