Ok...created a piano score, looks great, but realize that it would be better to create a third staff for one two bar section of the piece. No problem; create the extra staff, write in the music, then choose to hide the empty staves...perfect. However, the extra staff, which I would like to be in between the treble and bass clef staves, can only be on the top or bottom. It has to have something to do with the staff attributes, but I can't figure out how to solve this simple problem!

So you want the new staff in the middle, right?

 

The piano grand staff is setup as a staff group. You'll need to include the new staff in that group.

With the staff tool selected, right-click the handle of the piano brace and choose "Edit Group Attributes."

Select the staff range for the group (Top/Bottom) so that all staves are in the group.

Then reorder staves from the staff menu to put the new staff in the middle.
