I routinely record live using a MIDI keyboard. I am reasonably new to Finale and am trying to become as familiar with it as I am with other programs. Other notation programs I have used provide a means of stopping recording by simply hitting a key (typically the Spacebar). If I were recording in step time or with the mouse, I could use whatever means to end my input, but with HyperScribe, the cursor keeps going until I can get to the Stop button with the mouse on the Playback Controls. If I am re-recording several measures of faulty entries in the middle of some good ones and cannot stop recording in time, Finale overwrites notes I didn't want to replace. I'm sure there are workarounds {for example recording to a different layer then moving the new material to (say) Layer 1}, but they are clunky and affect my workflow.
So:
1) is there a way to map the Stop button to a key?
2) If not, why shouldn't there be for the sake of users like me who prefer to use live entry because it provides the most efficient workflow?
