I am really frustrated with Makemusic and Finale. Years ago you could call and get help. At first I think it may have been any version, then the two most recent. Then they made it to where you could only get help over the phone if something was broken,  Now I found out there is no phone support. Bad move. I also found out about this forum which is sad compared to the previous. I have had Finale since 2003 or 2004 and upgraded at least 4 times I think. I might change to Sibelius at this point. I submitted a ticket, but it is a pain. I was a hobbyist and used Dr. T's KCS sequencer and Copyist / Copyist DTP on the Amiga starting in 1989, and moved on to Quickscore Elite and Windows before Finale, but Finale has always been as a music professional in my job. Getting phone support when you need it and up and running was instrumental (no pun intended) in my work. I am hard pressed to think of anything positive they have done as far as changes. It is sad. I would think that the upgrades are how they are able to make improvements as well as provide support.

Anyhow, I try to record using Hyperscribe and it not only is about an eighth note off, but the response of the sound is about that far off when I hear the sound after striking the key. I have in the past had to enter manually or edit the score, but am over it. I tried adjusting the one setting (whose name escapes me) using the microphone, but that didn't fix it.

While we are at it, I don't know if these changed from versions before, or if the install is funky, but Escape doesn't stop recording anymore and the left arrow doesn't return the counter to the beginning like it used to either.

Latency often has to do with Audio Buffer size. I would start by checking that. The larger it is, the more delay you may experience; the smaller it is, the more problems with playback you may have. Latency can also depend on your audio card.

I did do latency adjustment prior and with little effect at the time. I will have to try again. I have a pretty good system, but am using onboard sound right now.

What would be a good audio card should I add one?
