Hi There,

In my music, I'll often have a tempo marking/tempo alteration and a rehearsal marking on the same measure. It would be great if the would automatically not collide.

Should be

I know that you can simply change the horizontal offset of tempo markings, but then they'd be offset when there isn't a rehearsal marking.

It's a small detail and shouldn't take more than a day or two to code up, but it would make life much easier.

Thanks for reading,

Nick

Excellent suggestion, and it's not so small a detail if you have thirty orchestra parts in a full scale opera to clean up.

Hi Nicholas, thanks for posting. I very much agree myself. Collision avoidance between rehearsal marks, tempo expressions and other expressions is something that needs some improvement in Finale. This is type of update is something that is definitely on our radar.

Sadly, never fixed.  Now it's 2025 and Finale is not being updated or supported.  It would be great if the setting for "opaque" enclosures around rehearsal marks worked simply to deal with interfering slurs.  I've never found a fix even for that and wonder if any out there has?

Hi Christopher,

Since there will never be another Feature, very few of the regulars even check here anymore. I look about once a month, maybe.

This is better posted in Problems and Questions. There have been two versions (and several minor updates) released since that was posted here—both improved collision avoidance. Please include your OS, Finale version and steps we can take to duplicate your issue.
