Yes, people have used Instant Orchestra with Finale.

It's been my experience that Instant Orchestra (IO) does not work with Finale, compared to GPO. You can make IO work by extensive use of midi data. But it will not playback a score as well as GPO does simply because the instruments in IO are not standard instruments, but rather combinations of instruments and sound design type of sounds.

IMO it's easier to use IO in a DAW.

Thanks for the answers! I understand that it is not particularly suitable for use with Finale. Same thing for Garritan World Instruments? Although Finale and Garritan are two different products it would be nice if with Finale 26 there was also an update about the sounds and a greater compatibility with various types of VST.

I have had no problems using GWI with Finale other than finding the instrument in the various categories GWI stores their sounds in. Quite a few times I have had to look in the manual to find out that an instrument thought of as an Indian instrument is actually the same instrument as one saved under a different name int he China folder. When cultures share an instruemtn, things can get complicated; so be sure to download the PDF manual.
