It would be great to see a fifth option for Enharmonic Spelling (Finale>Enharmonic Spelling) -

"Directional Enharmonics."

What are Directional Enharmonics? Simply put - rising lines favor sharps, descending lines favor flats. If the next note is lower than the previous, a flat would automatically be favored - and, the converse, if the next note is higher, then a sharp would be favored - all within the context of the key signature, of course.

This would save users hours and hours of editing correcting the defaults in any of the four existing enharmonic options.

Excellent suggestion! Maybe there's a script or plugin that could accomplish this after the notes have been entered.

Not as far as I know. You can use Finale Scripts to respell to one of the 4 provided options, but nothing I've seen has a "directionality sniffer."

I doubt Finale's architecture has the underlying technology to implement this, not that it wouldn't be nice to develop.
