Version: 2014.5.6359

OS: Windows 10 Home, Version 1803

I just got a new laptop for Christmas. I downloaded Finale and the first two days it was great, no problems. Playback was completely fine, and when I input individual notes, I was able to hear them loud and clear (basically, normally). Today, however, I open Finale and it's different. The playback is still fine. However, when I go to input notes individually there is minimal, small amount of sound heard when the computer volume is at full capacity. Is there any way to fix this? I would like to hear the sounds I am inputting into my pieces of music I compose! :)

What other apps have you opened that access the sound card? In Windows, this is the usual culprit.

Does it return to normal once you reboot?

I have the opposite problem: I can't turn the sound off.  I don't want to hear the notes played back to me as I input them.  How do I turn that off?  Nothing in the manual about this.  I can't just use "mute" on my computer because Ineed to hear other sounds while I'm working.

You can mute the sound in the Mixer or Score Manager.

Thanks for this.  Would you be able to tell me what other information you think is necessary to respond to my query?

Operating system, Finale version, any additional sound packages…

Consider adding this to your signature, as Mike H. and I have done.

This is the most obvious and nearly everyone knows it. So, if it didn't work for you, we need to know the information in the link I posted. If Windows, we need to know what audio drivers, too.

This is not a common problem and we do not read minds.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the problem.

But in the Simple Entry Tool, in the Simple Entry Options, you can de-select {Playback Notes on Entry}.

Similarly, in the Speedy Entry Tool:

Speedy menu > Playback (de-select this option)

Me too, I, we, was trying to overthink a reason. It seems so simple.
