Using Mac High Sierra and Finale 25, for a three-movement work. Because the first movement is in 6/8 and has so many syncopations, I chose the global preference to include rests within beams, as that makes it much more readable. But I would like that canceled in the second and third movement, as they are in 4/4. There I would like only each quarter-note of music beamed together.

Aside from breaking the piece into three separate Finale files, tech support's only option was what I already knew: I could use the Beam Extension Special Tool to manually override every extended beam and re-flag each relevant eighth in movements two and three. But is there any other solution, external plug-in?
