I'm working on charts for someone who handplayed string parts in and sent me the midi but they have a lot of movement on the top and bottom around sustaining notes in the middle across multiple measures.  When you explode this, it becomes a mess - it explodes from the top down so it doesn't take tied notes into account.  So you end up with notes on different staves that have ties that go nowhere and it takes twice as long to untangle the mess and move voices around to the right staves.

Is there some kind of a "smart explode" plug in that takes into account tied notes across measures and keeps them together during an explode?

Obviously the finale explode doesn't do it.  I've tried TG Tools Smart explode and it doesn't do it.  I've also tried Jari's staff polyphony plug and it doesn't do it as well.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Frank,

When working with complex passages of music, especially with a lot of human element played into it, sometimes editing this will need to be done manually. While software can automate a lot of tasks, this process will simplify the structure of the music without taking into account musical interpretation of the notation. So in this case, I don't think that there is a plug-in that will be able to do this perfectly by itself.
