Some recent editions have been available on a thumb drive (rather than a disk). I do not see this available for v26 at finalemusic.com, so I expect the best you can do is post an inquiry directly with MakeMusic using the "Submit a request" link above.
I understand the only thing you download is the install executable. I expect it manipulates the software when it downloads. I don't think you can copy FINALE to disk and re-load it to a new disk later. it needs to be "installed" to update the registries.
Hi Lou, the use of physical media for software distribution is becoming less common these days. With Finale version 26, we did make physical media for this installer. If you would, as William suggested, you are welcome to download the installer and copy this to physical media yourself for backup purposes. The installer can be stored and run in this manner.
Tried to download V26.1 last night. THought I was done, but something doesn't seem right. There is no new icon on myHP Laptop (running Windows 10). I keep getting a message saying Windows is looking for finale.exe. It wants me to browse. Where would I find that file?
Can't believe how poort Finales's customer service it. It is essentially non-existent. Spend money, product doesn't work, no telephone suport at all, submit a request for assistant, then sit around waiting for a noncustomer service rep to respond.What a farce. So after wasting more than an hour downloading the program, not only do I not have the new version, I don't have the old either. Just great!
Wonder if I should remove the programs and start all over. Wish I had never bothered to order the new version. This company just gets worse and worse. Ready to convert to Sibelius!
Yes I agree. I'm almost having the same issue. I just upgraded last night from 25 to 26 and i'm really upset that I did. I have a concert to play
this week and I can't write any of my charts out. After upgrading last night I went to the wizard and put my info in and what came up on my lead sheet looked to be a bunch of gibberish. circles, triangles, squares, looked like little clocks on each measure, really crazy stuff. I put a support ticket in after trying to locate a live person that couldn't help me but
just told me I need to put a support ticket in and I did and I'm still waiting for a response.
This is not what I expect at all. I'm very disappointed that I upgraded won't happen again. Is there anyone that can help me with this issue.
I had a previous version. Not 25 and what I had previously is not usuable. The same shortcut is still visible, but when I use it, I get a message telling me Windows can't find the Finale.exe file and do I want to browse to look for it - as if I hve a clue where to look for it. My ticket was opened 3 hours ago and still haven't heard a word. This isn't Customer Service, it's pathetic.
I finally got a response from Finale. They said to uninstall everything which I just did. I also unistalled Garritan and Aria. Am about to start all over by reinstalling. When I installed the 26.1 version which was not working I was unable to use the previous version. But all my files which are stored in directories are fine. Here goes my second attempt.
