Windows 7 Finale 2014.5 and 26.2

So I made the mistake of opening an old file in 26.2 and ignoring the not entirely comprehensible warning message about articulations, then deciding that I didn't need to work on the file in 26.2. Reopening it in 2014.5, my articulations are all screwed up. Is there a global fix for this? Or at least per articulation? I probably only use 4-5 different ones in the whole piece

What exactly is the problem you're seeing in the 2014.5 file?

As a test, I just opened a 26 file and exported it to 2012. Then I opened the file in 2012. All of the articulations were positioned incorrectly. So I highlighted the whole file, under the utilities menu and chose change/articulations. Then I selected the option to reposition all articulations. They all popped into their default position and everything was fixed.

Do you have a different issue?

@Jeffrey: this was a 2014.5 file (actually may have been created in 2011), which I opened unthinkingly in 26, then remembered MM's warning that documents should always be kept in their original program. So I reopened it in 2014.5 and all the articulations were out of whack. Thanks to advice from the Finale Forum, I managed to fix this by reloading the articulation library, and switching them out individually, although that did take me most of a day. Won't make that mistake again.

@J Adrian: MM no longer offers support. I only get robo answers requesting TXT info from the program, and then when I've submitted those, instructions to delete and reinstall the program.

Hi Edward,

We absolutely do offer support for current versions of Finale. It's unfortunate to hear that you had some difficulty submitting a case with us. I can't say for certain I know what you had seen but, if you had entered 2014.5 as your version, you would have received a notice that this version no longer qualifies for technical support. Versions 25 and 26 are considered current versions and 2014.5 and earlier are no longer supported.

So, since there seem to be insoluble spacing problems with 26 (I have accidentals and layers colliding frequently in this piece), I'm trying to rework it in 2014.5. This has solved the spacing issues, but because of the accidental conflict between the two versions, all of my accidentals are now off kilter. I've tried globally readjusting them with various measurements, but they don't seem to be changing.

Edward,

What steps did you take when you globally readjusted the articulations measurements?

I've selected an articulation, e.g. staccatto, and tried different measurements in the Articulation Designer Default Vertical Position box. Nothing changes in the score.

That's what I thought. AFter you've made changes in the articulation dialog box, you need to either highlight the articulation and press the "clear" key. Or to globally affect articulations, in the Utilities menu "select All" at the bottom is Change/Articulations. Under Position Selected Articulations, choose the articulation that you've edited from the dialog box, then press OK.

When you do it this way FInale re-looks at the articulation positioning and uses those measurements.

Thanks, Jeffrey, I knew there was a simple solution, I just couldn't remember what.
