Windows 10 Home 1803 (up to date) Finale v25.5

When creating a custom expression, it appears that the playback will always default to begin at the beginning of the measure with no option to change the expression to globally begin playback at the alignment point. So, for example, when I enter custom percussion markings such as muting and pedaling I must click on each individual marking - and there are hundreds in percussion ensemble scores (marching, indoor, and concert) - to make the playback function correctly, so that the entire measure of vibraphone doesn't get pedal up'd and cymbals aren't trying to roll as muted. Is there a workaround for this that I am not finding? I can't substitute with an articulation because of VDL, where each parameter is assigned to a controller and the text / shape recognition that Finale does for piano pedaling and such doesn't seem to talk to Kontakt or at least translate to any recognizable parameter.

Are you referring to placement of these custom expressions always defaulting to the beginning of the measure?

Each expression has a positioning tab where you can specify the default placement. If you choose horizontal click position, then the expression will be assigned to the beat that you clicked on. This will save you the time of repositioning each expression. Also, if you have expressions you use often, assigning them to a metatool will also speed up the process.
