Hello

I'm using Finale 26.1 on Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

The Shift Lyrics.. tool in the Lyrics menu is not very user friendly. What if you could pull lyrics like chords or expressions left or right from one note to the next? With e.g. Shift+drag to the right would move all the lyrics until the next pause, shift+drag to the left until the last pause. With Ctr+drag left / right to the end / beginning of the document. That would be great and would save a lot of time.

Lyrics are attached to notes; chords are attached to beats.

Do any of the longer-term users of Finale recall whether chords could be dragged when they were also attached to notes?

It would be nice. Then again, so would a lot of other things...

In the meantime, shift lyrics is what we’ve got. I find that moving them to the left isn’t too tough, but shifting to the right can be a little more of a problem. Often, I’ll use the edit filter to delete all lyrics ahead of the problem area, and click them in correctly.

Thanks, Adrian and Mike.

It actually works with Shift Lyrics but moving the syllables by dragging chords and expressions is much more intuitive than every time going to the Menu Shift Lyrics... - right or left - ok.

Maybe my idea will be installed once in 27 or 28 or ...

I agree with the OP.  I want to move a SINGLE syllable to an open, adjacent note, and it takes either a copy/paste with filter on AND delete operation, or a virtual mudstorm of Shift Lyrics operations, or  messing around with Click Assignment or Type into score, and either of those give you duplicated or misordered lyrics in the Lyric window.  The lyric is ALREADY IN THERE.  How nice would it be to be able to hold the right or left arrow key on the keyboard, and click to move a single syllable by one note?
