In the score manager, when you open up the layers of an instrument, it it redraws the window so that you have to scroll down to see the layers. Wouldn't it make more sense to show the layers of the in instrument you just expanded?

Does this not depend on how tall you have set the Score Manager window (which was a great addition to recent versions of Finale)?

You are absolutely correct. I was not aware you could resize the window. Thank you for  pointing that out. It makes it much easier to use.

I'd like to add a voice to requesting a smoother ScoreManager interface, particularly when you open the layers.  No matter how big I make the SM window, if there are a lot of staves, the act of opening layers (or multiple staves of a grand-staff instrument) creates a heck of a parade and leaves me to relocate the staff I just clicked on.

Also - it's still somewhat of a puzzle to separate instruments that are assigned to the same Bank / Channel.  You change one staff, they all change.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "smoother." Do you envision the Score Manager window scrolling to keep the expanded instrument's lines centered?

With your channel/bank assignment problem (although this should really be handled on the Questions section of the Forum), are you using MIDI output or VSTs (Garritan)? Also, are you trying to separate the staves of a piano into separate instances of the sound or different layers of a single instrument? You should be able to create new instruments and assign them to any MIDI channel you wish and then copy notes from old staves to new ones if all else fails. (I'm still trying to envision exactly what your situation is.) Have you tried Reassign Instrument Sounds (on a copy of your file)?
