Or "Hide Empty Staves" :-)

But at any rate, it's in there (Staff Menu).

If you’ve applied a staff style to it, it’s no longer empty.

Can you give us some more details about what you are doing?

Alessandro Melchiorre,

If you view the document in Scroll View, you can see the hidden staves/measures.

You can remove staff styles in Scroll View.

In the Staff menu you have the options

Show Staff Styles

and

Show Staff Style Names

Are you selecting those empty staves by clicking on the handles? Or selecting the whole page? Either way should work.

Hi Mike

it is exactly that (both ways) that doesn't work...

actually I solved by asking Finale official support...

"
In order to fix this, we first need to refresh the document. Please follow these steps to perform an XML conversion:

*Note: this process will not alter, erase, or otherwise affect the current version of your document; this will create a new instance of the document

  1. Open your document in Finale
  2. Choose File > Export > MusicXML
  3. Save your document as an XML file to your desktop
  4. Choose File > Close
  5. Choose File > Import > MusicXML. Select the file you just saved to the desktop and click Open
  6. Choose File > Save As to save the new document as a Finale file and give it a new filename
  7. Once the new Finale file has been saved, you can delete the XML file from your desktop

In the newly created Finale document, you may need to make some changes and remake some edits. Two of these things you normally have to do are:

  • Regenerate Parts: if no parts are created choose Document Manage Parts | in the dialog box that appears, click Generate Parts
  • Reassign Playback Sounds: choose MIDI/Audio > Reassign Playback Sounds

Next, highlight the score and select the Staff Tool. Choose Show Empty Staves from within the Staff menu.
This should take care of this problem for you.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about this!
