Can very old versions of Finale be updated by buying an upgrade? Or is there some limits as to which version may still be upgraded to a newer one? I am using Win 10 and have Finale from 2008-2009.

… Can very old versions of Finale be updated by buying an upgrade? …

Generally a Finale upgrade (= a newer version) is not an update (= an edit in the existing program code), but rather a new, separate program.

When you install a new version of Finale, the installer can install the new version without touching the already installed, older version(s).

In Other Words:

You can have several Finale versions installed at the same time.

You can also download a demo of v26.

As long as the old version is found in your MakeMusic (was FinaleMusic) account, you're good.

Some of us going way back found that we had multiple accounts dating from back when we bought our copies then mailed in the cards plus whatever was going on at Coda back in the day complicated by email address changes through the years... In my case, I was buying my daughter's licenses when she was in school and her email changed a few times. What a mess! Sales can sort it all out through the Submit a request link at the top of the page. Nowadays, my kid and I each have one user account with only our individual licenses. Whew!
