Good afternoon,
I saw the fact that Speedy Entry would not let users hear notes while using ReWire in DAW. This, to me, was entirely program-breaking, because I need to hear my notes as I'm composing for film. However, I saw an article posted by someone claiming to be a Finale expert saying that simply switching to "Play thru Midi" would solve this problem and allow the notes to sound as you enter them.
This does NOT seem to be the case, and I am at a dead end. ReWire is working fine in Cubase on Windows 10. I made sure that Cubase does not recognize my keyboard so that it doesn't hijack MIDI from Finale, and I am still getting playback perfectly well. However, all of this is useless to me if I can't hear the notes that I'm entering, or be able to use Finale's MIDI to experiment with my music as I write it.
I truly hope that there is a workaround for this, or I'm going to be forced to find another program. Time is money, and I have already lost days and days of work trying to figure this problem out, and it seems that MakeMusic has abandoned film composers entirely. As a Finale user of 15 years, I truly hope that that isn't the case.
