Hi!!

I have hit the wall on this, hoping I have missed something obvious :-)

I often have wanted to wanted to select the top line/ tones in a three voice arrangement, then paste them to a new part.

Now 1 hour later googling, searching manual, plugins, youtube etc.. I write here.

The workaround is of course to explode to new parts, the erase the ones not to be used.

That is pretty clumsy, and easy mess up in bigger scores

Hoping I have missed the obvious :-)

Best regards, Pelle

Pelle Fridell,

A little more info from you might help:

What version of Finale?

Windows or Mac?

By The Way:

Do you know Jari Williamson’s plug-ins for Finale?

I am thinking of the plug-in JW Staff Polyphony.

Hi Peter and thanks for your reply!!
I need to get my info right in profile thanks for pointing out :-)
I’m on Mac Mojave, mbp and Finale 26 latest.
Yes Jari’s plugins are great and absolutely deserves a donation.
I use staff polyfony and copy part layout all the time, but that is a workaround creating new parts for copying.
I just wanted to find out how to select the top line, copy that and paste in another part.
No intentions to be stubborn :-)

Best regards, Pelle Fridell

Pelle,

I don't see a way, other than copying the complete staff, and using the Staff Polyphony plugin to delete what you don't want. It's a little bit of work, but Michelangelo started with a block of marble, and deleted everything that didn't look like David.

Thanks for your answer Mike!
I really have scratched my head... seemed like a natural thing to do, that I could not understand where in the menues that command was...:-)
Best regards, Pelle

TG Tools (full version) does what you need; «Process Extracted Parts». The plugin name is somewhat misguiding to how the plugin actually works and what it does.
