Oddly, if you select several staves in Finale and use the Clef tool to change clefs, it only affects the topmost staff. Would be nice to have the ability to change clefs in the selected staves rather than having to do it individually.

It works if applied to a specific measure region (selected measures). That being the case, you can use the hotkeys to apply them quickly without going through the dialog box. If you open the clef change dialog box, you can see in the top left corner of each clef selection what to press.

Odd, I don't see that behavior. When I select a group of measures on several staves, then change the clef with the clef tool, all selected staves get the new clef. What are your specific steps David?

Hmm...I do the same steps. I select three staves that are in treble clef, hit the clef tool, select bass clef, and only the topmost staff is acted upon.

I have a screen video here (the forum doesn't seem to take .mov or .m4v files)

Thanks!

Thanks.

Hi David Toub,

Did you try what I suggested? The video doesn't show a specific region being selected.

Hi David,

I watched your video and when I do the same steps, all staves get a new clef.

The only time the new clef didn't work was when I had a staff style applied to those measures. The staff style used was one which set it to a specific clef. Are you using a staff style in these measures?

George, yes, selecting a region does work as desired. But odd that selecting a single measure stack does not.

Hi Jeffrey-I don't have a staff style applied. Just to be safe, I selected all and ran Clear Staff Styles from the Staff Tool and that did not affect anything. I also deleted group/bracket in the Staff Tool and still got the same result. Weird!

Thanks-this is helpful.
