I ask for this feature more than 10 years.
Make at least Rehearsal numbers fully opaque. If I say fully, I mean, that they have to cover all items, including Smart shapes which go over the section marked by Rehearsal number and get in (graphical) conflict with the Rehearsal number.
I do hope very much, that there will be somebody listening at last.

Indeed, rehearsal letters/numbers would need to cover smart shapes. That's a basic problem of the hard-wired z-order.
So I would like to suggest a more powerful and versatile approach: make the z-order of objects a document option. In that way, each user can decide on his own which objects should cover which others.
