Did anyone ever solve how to reliably use tap tempo? I've tapped along to an audio track 10 times in a row now - and it just drifts, despite me being solidly in time (and the barlines jumping perfectly every 4 clicks).

If I play from the very start, it stays in for longer, but if I play from halfway, it's always out. 

Human playback and scrolling is off. 

Old posts suggest always playing from the start - which is impractical. Other posters talk about various convoluted work arounds, none of which help - but they're really old posts. What's the current thinking on this?

Driving me ccrccrazy over here.
