Finale 26.2, Windows 10 (1909)

All worked fine on Windows 7, but after (what seems like a successful,,,) upgrade to W10, whenever Finale i sstarted a small dialog pops up "Windows Installer" with the message "preparing to install..." -  Hangs forever and F can't be started.  Affects 25 as well, but 2014.5 and 2012 behave normally...

Any clues, anyone...?

TIA

Are you running Windows as an administrator?

Did you install Finale as an or the administrator? This sounds like a permissions issue.

If all else fails, you can seek help via the "Submit a request" link at the top of the page. I'm sure they want to help you get up and running again.

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, there's only the admin account on this PC.  I didn't explicitly run the Finale installer as admin (run as admin) though.  The funny thing is that the same dialog pops up as soon as I try to launch Aria Player stand alone.

There's definitely some weird driver problems with this PC now, because I also cannot install a driver for the Steinberg UR22 audio interface... I'm just a bit lost as to where I should start troubleshooting, hence I'd be very interested to know why this Windows Installer dlg pops up... what in Aria and Finale could provoke that...?

Occationally I've been getting a BSD with the stopcode "ATTEMPTED SWITCH FROM DPC"... Don't know if it's related ...

thanks,

I had this exact issue - same Windows and Finale versions, same interface. Upgrading the Steinberg interface USB driver did fix the issue for me. They've got one out that better supports the latest versions of Windows.
