In choral music dynamics for the vocal parts are above the staff. Finale knows when I'm writing choral music as I use a SATB template (or SAB, TTBB, SSAA, etc). But when I put in dynamics (f, p mp, hairpins, etc) they always default to below the staff. Every time I enter a dynamic marking in vocal or choral music I have to move it to above the staff. If you want me to upgrade to the latest version, give me a useful feature such as correct placement of dynamics. Please!

FWIW, I'm on Windows 10 using Finale 2014.5. I could upgrade to Finale 26, but don't see a good reason to. I just gave you what I would consider a good reason for me to upgrade to Finale 27.

Thank you,

Steve Chandler

Blackmail is always a courteous way to encourage someone. :-)

I simply created a new category called Dynamics Above, duplicated all my dynamic markings and moved the duplicates into the new category, setting the new category's parameters to put the dynamics above the staff. Since i frequently use instruments instead of the generally lacking choral sounds for singers, the new category is more reliable than an automatic placement that reads instrument names to recognize singers.

This is not my experience.

The Choral Document Styles and Templates for Finale 2014.5 all have the default placement for Dynamics above the staff.
