I am putting piano pedals in a score with smart shapes, but as soon as I place them precisely, they move away from the location I defined. This is way too smart for me, I just want them to stay in place.

Any ideas?

This is just a guess, but if these are beat attached pedal markings, they will be attached to the beat. I notice you have beams over barlines, so it's possible you have some notes manually positioned with the Note Position Tool. Moving notes with the Note Position Tool does not move the beat, so the smart shapes will remain where the beat is.

Thank you so much George, that was the problem. Finale does not support place pedal sign with smart shape when there are beams across barlines. I took a different path and could achieve the desired result.
