I'm a longtime Finale user (actually, since version 1!). I'm using the most recent version of 26.6 on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.14.6

Since updating to 10.14.6 (I was late to this), I can't get sound from the Audio Units. Smartsynth works OK, but not AU Garritan or Noteperformer. I own an upgraded version of Garritan.

When I have one of the AU sounds selected, I see meters jumping in Studio view, but no sound is coming out.

My other sound programs are working fine (Logic, Quicktime, Dorico with Noteperformer).

I hope someone can help troubleshoot this. I think I've tried everything -- Audio/MIDI settings, the System Preferences Sound, and Finale Preferences -- basically everywhere I can find something having to do with sound. Nothing seems to work. Perhaps if someone can start me at square 1 and we can try a variety of things?

The AU sound doesn't work for old files or new files.

Thanks in advance,

David Froom

I'm having the same issue with ver 27. Did you find a solution?

If you have the default mic turned off, you won't get any sound. It should tell you the sound engine didn't load when you start Finale.

Check Banks & Effects. Make sure all the volume settings have not been reset to zero. I have no idea why Finale should reset the sound to zero but it does. That's dumb!  It's worth a check.

Also my Finale doesn't like for me to have any other software running that is using sound. One or the other will mess up.
